Welcome back for another home tour! Catherine Nguyen gave us an inside look at this creative home designed by Lori Moscato of Casual Elegance Designs in Raleigh, North Carolina. "Rules are meant to be broken, and our home certainly breaks the rules," explains Lori, homeowner. "As a designer I am fortunate to see so many beautiful ideas that are from every genre."

Seven years ago, Lori explains they underwent a major remodel. "I wanted the design to be inspired by function, but also to have a timeless feel sprinkled with a bit of fun. Starting in the kitchen, they selected white cabinets with a light gray painted island. The countertops are quartzite for durability but also to achieve a natural stone look. The backsplash along the perimeter is a beautiful Calcutta. The range backsplash has a feature with glass and Calcutta in an arabesque pattern.

Connected to the kitchen is a beautiful living area pulled together by mixing and matching hues of blue. From modern art and abstract patterns, this open space invites a natural flow of conversation and place for people to meet.

Finally, we're led into a gorgeous reading nook. Placed thoughtfully next to a window, a custom upholstered blue and animal print chair is drenched in natural light. The blue is complimented by metallic details by way of a stunning gold accent table, and the space is thoughtfully completed with peonies and decorative botanicals.

As for the dining room, they wanted the complete opposite. It is vibrant, loud, full of drama, texture, and color. With a bold wallcovering and custom velvet chairs, this room transports you to another place.
